Tackling Homelessness

Homelessness is a major battle that many citizens fight against everyday. People result to homelessness for different reasons, usually it is not a choice. According to the Annual Homeless Assessment Report to Congress in 2015, there are approximately 600,000 homeless people living in the United States. On a global scale, there are over 100 million people living without homes (and these are only those who are “documented”).

The Effects of Gentrification

Gentrification is a term used to describe the displacement of middle class or lower-income families due to arrival of wealthier people in an urban neighborhood. This is often a result of increasing property values. This is controversial because although the goal is to reduce crime and increase economic activity, established residents find themselves being economically and socially marginalized. Cities across the country such as San Francisco, Chicago and Washington D.C. are heavily impacted by gentrification.

Although this is a major global milestone, Raggi has a lot of ground to cover. Considering the city has been without a mayor for almost 8 months and is over $15 billion in debt, one can assume this will not be an easy job.
