Mapping Deforestation

Today, forests are under more pressure than ever before. Due to the massive clearing and burning of forests, the world lost a total area of forest roughly equivalent to the size of Mongolia between 2000 and 2012.  An organization called Global Forest Watch is working to provide interactive maps and satellite images that show near-real time data on deforestation.
